The women agreed on the condition and thus all the men were rescued.
The salvaged hunters and their kin left hunting and concentrated on business, and they named their community as the Maheshwari community after Lord Mahesh to show their love and devotion towards Shiva.
Hence, it is believed that Lord Shiva was the saviour of the ancestors of the community.

In ancient times there was a king named Khadgalsen.
His subjects were very happy with the work of the king.
The kings used to live in the well-being of the people with religious instincts, but the kings used to be very unhappy because of being childless.
Once the king conducted a Kameshti Yagna with the desire to have a son.
In the Yajna, saints and mahatmas blessed the king to be a brave and mighty son and predicted that for 20 years he would have to stop going in the north direction.
The son was born at the king`s place and got his naming ceremony done with pomp and named Sujan Kanwar.
Sujan Kanwar became heroic, brilliant, and versed in all the disciplines in a few days.
After a few days, Jain monks arrived in that city.
Sujan Kanwar was very impressed by his satsang.
He got influenced and took the education of Jainism and started propagating the religion.
Gradually, the faith of the people of the state started increasing in Jainism.
One day the prince went into the forest to hunt and suddenly the prince started going towards the north.
Despite the refusal of the soldiers, he did not agree. Near the Surya Kund in the north, sages were performing a yajna.
Seeing this, the prince became very angry and said – `I was not allowed to come in the north direction by keeping me in the dark and he sent all the soldiers and caused a disturbance in the yagna.
Origin of Maheshwari Society
It is believed that on the Navami date of the Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month, Lord Mahesh and Mata Parvati cursed the 72 Kshatriya Umrahs made of stone due to the curse of the sages and gave life again, saying that they were called Maheshwari i.e. Maheshwari blessings have been given.
The Maheshwari society originated from this day itself.
Therefore, it is said that this festival is celebrated with great pomp in Maheshwari society by considering Lord Mahesh and Mata Parvati as the founders of Maheshwari society.
