Pratipada Tithi Pratipada (Krishna Paksha)

The first date of Lunar month is called Pratipada. A Lunar month has 30 dates and there are two Paksha in Lunar month, one is Shukla Paksha and the other is Krishna Paksha. There are fourteen dates in each Paksha. Every first date of each Paksha is Pratipada and in Hindu Panchanga ,the first date.

How is Pratipada Calculated

The Moon starts towards completion from Pratipada of Shukla Paksha. The difference of Moon from Sun is 0 to 12 Degrees. This12 degrees difference constitutes one Tithi which is known as Pratipada of Shukla Paksha.The other Pratipada in Krishna Paksha is from 180 degrees to 192 degrees.

Deity of Pratipada Tithi

Agni Deva has been considered deity of Pratipada Tithi/ Pratipada is placed in Nanda Tithi. A native born on Pratipada must worship Agni Deva as it will benefit the native.

Pratipada Tithi Yoga

Pratipada on Sunday and Tuesday is considered death giving, so any auspicious work is prohibited on this day. On the other hand, if Pratipada falls on a Friday, it is considered Siddha and all work done on this day are auspicious and gives successful results. Pratipada of Bhadrapad month is considered as zero. Lord Shiva resides in the cremation ground, hence Pratipada of Shukla Paksha is considered death giving. On Krishna Paksha Pratipada worship of Shiva is auspicious. Recitation of Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra and doing Rudrabhishek is useful in giving auspicious results.

Chaitra, Ashwini, Ashada and Magha month Shukla Paksha Pratipada starts with Navratri and the different forms of Maa Durga are worshiped. This Navratri is very powerful in all respects.

On these days, people take baths early in the morning offer donations and do charity work. In Hinduism, the month of Chaitra is regarded as extremely auspicious and rich in bounty. This month brings about several changes in both nature and the weather.

On this day, worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi to fulfill all of your desires. This month is also known as the month of devotion and limitation due to the number of fasts and festivals that occur throughout it. This month marks the end of spring and the start of summer.
