How to Use the Sun Yantra ?

Yantras are great cosmic conductors of energy, an antenna of Nature, a powerful tool for harmony, prosperity, success, good health, yoga and meditation! Yantras consist of a series of geometric patterns. The eyes and mind concentrate at the center of the yantra to achieve higher levels of consciousness. Yantras are usually made out of copper.

Place the Yantra facing the East or the North in a clean and sacred altar.
Do not let other people touch the Yantra.
Periodically wash the Yantra with rose water or milk. Then, rinse it with water and wipe it to dry. The Yantra’s color may change over a period of time; however this does not dilute the power of the Yantra.
Place rounded dots of sandalwood paste on the 4 corners and in the center of the Yantra.
Light a candle or ghee lamp and an incense stick in front of the Yantra. You can offer fresh or dry fruits as Prasad, as well.

NAVAGRAHA TEMPLES
The Navagraha temples in Tamil Nadu are a cluster of Navagraha Temples dating from the Chola dynasty near Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu. As per Hindu legend, Sage Kalava was suffering from serious ailments along with leprosy. He prayed to the Navagrahas, the nine planet deities. The planets were pleased by his devotion and offered him cure. Brahma, the Hindu god of creation, was angered as he felt that the planets have no powers to provide boons to humans. He cursed the nine planets to suffer from leprosy and were sent down to earth in Vellurukku Vanam, the white wild flower jungle – the modern time Suryanar Kovil. The planets prayed to Shiva to relieve them off the curse. Impressed, Shiva appeared in front of them and assured that the place belonged to them and that they would have to grace the devotees worshipping them from the place.

Each temple is located in a different village, and is considered an abode of one of the Navagrahas. However, the majority of these temples are dedicated to Shiva. The Surya temple is the only one dedicated to the Graham. In fact, it is dedicated entirely to the worship of the Sun-God and the other navagrahas, the former being the object of worship as the principal deity and the latter as attendant deities. It was built around the 11th or 12th century C.E. The other temples were built earlier, ranging back to 7th-9th century.

They are :

Surya Navagrahastalam — Sooriyanar Kovil

Nine Planets (Navagrahas)
Just as in mathematics, there are basic operators – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division – so too, there are operators within the structure of Consciousness. They are called the Nine Planets (Navagrahas). They can be identified in every point, system, and dynamic within nature.

On the physical level, the Navagrahas manifest as the mechanics within our solar system… the nine planets: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu (north lunar node), Ketu (south lunar node). While the planets themselves are superficial expressions of the Navagrahas, these Navagrahas permeate everything.

Each of those expressions can be found in concentrated form within different structures. The emerald is Mercury (Budha), the diamond is Venus (Shukra), etc. It is no coincidence that the crystalline structure of gemstones parallels the crystalline structures found within the geometry (yantras) of the underlying basis of existence. Abstract algebra is the mathematical basis of these crystalline structures.

Navagraha PujaMapping
Viewing the self-interacting dynamic of pure Consciousness one way, it is the dance around the nine, the nine planets (Navagrahas). It accounts for everything and can be followed as those Navagrahas well up through the different levels of existence. The Navagraha system is appealing because it easily maps onto (corresponds to) something that exists in the physical – planets in the solar system. Jyotish (Vedic astrology) is the study of the quantum mechanical realm and its mapping onto the planets in a mathematically rigorous way. It is a tool to analyze an individual’s place in the multidimensional derivative of existence based upon a point in space time. The structure of the planets maps onto the universe. The ongoing question is how well someone can read that mapping.

The motion of planets in the solar system is a mapping, simply monitoring the pulse of the unified field as it wells up through existence. To fully know who it is and what it is you truly are, you must understand your place in the multidimensional universe. Each person is an inseparable, integral part of the totality of this universe. Jyotish gives expression to the interface of one’s Transcendental being, one’s prana, with the karmic scheme of things.

Nine Planets SanctumAlleviating Karma
In order to mitigate the negative effects of karma (shown as planet debilitation or difficult transits in the birthchart) or to provide more potency to one’s good karma (shown as a planet that is in an exalted state or well-placed, or beneficial transits in the birthchart), devotees make pilgrimages to Navagraha temples. When things are out of harmony with Nature (karma), the Navagrahas can be an efficient means to affect healing and restore Natural harmony. Therefore, we relate to the Navagrahas to avert mishaps, and help bring health, peace, and harmony to our lives.

As per the ancient scriptures, at temples, the Navagrahas are usually placed in a square, with the sun (Surya) in the center, and the other planets surrounding it. None face each other. At Sri Somesvara Temple, we have used the planet installation arrangement of Vaidika Prathishta which is the most powerful for worshippers.

This Puja is a short Navagraha Puja in which mantras are chanted that address the nine planets as a whole. If you are interested in a puja that addresses the nine planets individually, please see the Navagraha Shanti Puja in the Personal Pujas section.

Sunday
Ruler: Sun

Color: Red

Stone: Ruby, Red Spinel, Bloodstone

Qualities: In Jyotish, the sun is believed to be a reflection of the soul. Due to this soul connection, Sundays are the best day to dedicate to spiritual pursuits. Sun Salutations on a Sunday morning are a beautiful way to greet the day and honor the paternal sun. In Vedic culture, paying homage to the sun is considered a boon for health and a boost to positive energy.

What to Wear: Bring in more of the sun’s energy by wearing red on Sundays. Any and all garments count, whether you want to dress up like a firecracker, simply wear red socks, or get out your ruby slippers.

Monday
Ruler: Moon

Color: White

Stone: Pearl, Conch, Moonstone

Qualities: With her maternal pull, the moon fosters our emotional body. Mondays are best for honoring your yin, or feminine, energy. Opt to decrease stress and activity levels on Mondays to satisfy the moon. Since the moon is the planet of community and communication, “manic Mondays” are meant for connecting. Go out with friends and paint the town … white.

What to Wear: Moon-day fashion includes wearing white and digging out the old family pearls.

Tuesday
Ruler: Mars

Color: Red

Stone: Red Coral, Carnelian

Qualities: The fiery planet Mars gives us our zest and energy. Due to its feisty side, Mars is traditionally considered a malefic planet (having an unfavorable influence). Jyotish advises avoiding Tuesdays for travel, weddings, conception, or negotiations. But, because aggression is rampant on Mars days, this is a great time to pursue athletic endeavors and competitions. Mars is thought of as the engineer, so this is also a good day for mathematics or research. Honor and right intention are highly important themes to consider on Tuesdays.

What to Wear: Similar to Sundays, Tuesdays also require blazing reds. Red coral is recommended as the stone to appease Mars. If you tend to have a preponderance of pitta (fire) dosha in your constitution, a necklace made of red coral can help soothe it.

Wednesday

Ruler: Mercury

Color: Green

Stones: Emerald, Aquamarine, Green Tourmaline, Peridot

Qualities: The cerebral planet Mercury is known for lightning-fast intellect, merriment, and childlike energy. This planet rules communication, education, and commerce. Wednesdays is a day to tend the mind and care for the self.

What to Wear: Mercury is represented by the color green, so wear something green on Wednesdays, be it a piece of jewelry with an emerald stone or your favorite pair of Chuck Taylors.

Thursday
Ruler: Jupiter

Color: Yellow

Stone: Yellow Sapphire, Amber, Topaz, Citrine

Qualities: Jupiter, the planet of abundance and luck, rules Thursday. This is the planet of goodness and generosity; thus, acts of service and donating your time are considered auspicious on Thursdays. Like the Moon, Jupiter is a social planet, and Thursdays are best spent in the company of loved ones.

What to Wear: Hoping to bring about more abundance and luck in your life? Find something yellow to wear on Thursdays. I have an amber ring that I use as my default Jupiter day accessory.

Friday

Ruler: Venus

Color: Pinks, White, Light Purples

Stone: Diamond, White Sapphire

Qualities: Lovely Venus is the planet of the arts, so this is the best day to explore all aspects of the arts. Get creative and tap into your inner rock star. Pleasing Venus could look like making music, dancing, or drawing. Fridays are also perfect for romance, as Venus is a divinely feminine planet, deeply connected to love.

What to Wear: Similar to Mondays, Venus and the Moon are both represented by whites. Often, I will slip some pinks or light purples into my ensemble on Fridays.

Saturday

Ruler: Saturn

Color: Black, Dark Blue

Stones: Blue Sapphire, Lapis Lazuli, Amethyst

Qualities: Heavy and languid Saturn rules Saturdays, which makes it a less-than-ideal day for material or social enterprises. Often thought to bring about losses and strife, this planet can be our greatest teacher. At the commencement of the week, Saturn invites you to reflect on purifying your mind and getting ready for a new cycle. This is a perfect day to retreat in nature and explore meditation. According to Jyotish, the mountains exude the positive aspects of Saturn energy, making Saturdays ideal for forest bathing and getting down and dirty with Mother Nature.

What to wear: Saturn is represented by dark colors, namely black and dark blue. Get out the metropolitan garb, as Saturn is certainly a planet to keep on your good side.

9 Vishnu avatars and the planets they control
Dashavatara alludes to the ten symbols of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu embodies on Earth occasionally to annihilate abhorrent powers, to reestablish the dharma. He has taken nine symbols till now and the tenth Avathar will slip on Earth toward the finish of the Kali Yuga.

Why Vishnu took birth on Earth in various symbols?
There were wars between Devas(Demi divine beings) and Asuras(Demons). The divine beings would consistently beat the Demons in every one of the fights that went on. Mortified, Shukracharya (Shukra), the master of the Asuras, left to appeal to ruler Shiva. This was to acquire the Mritasanjeevani Stotram, a Mantra that would make the Asuras undefeatable.

Meanwhile, in his nonattendance, Shukracharya requested that the evil presences take shelter at the Ashram of his dad Bhrigu.

The divine beings saw the nonappearance of Shukrachrya as a decent time to assault the asuras. Additionally, they believed that it probably won’t be conceivable to overcome the Asuras if Shukracharya figures out how to accomplish the mantra which makes the asuras undefeatable. Consequently, driven by Indra, the Devas progressed to strike.

The evil spirits fled to Bhrigu’s significant other (Shukracharya’s mom) for cover. Since sage Bhrigu was somewhere else, his significant other chose to secure the Asuras and utilizing her forces she made Indra stationary.

Devas took shelter at the feet of Lord Vishnu. Be that as it may, Bhrigu’s better half cautioned them that if it somehow managed to occur, she would consume them two to remains.

Indra asked Vishnu to murder her, whereupon Lord Vishnu cut off her head with his Sudarshana Chakra.

When Sage Bhrigu returned and saw the cut-off leader of his significant other. He reviled Vishnu to be conceived on earth a few times and endure the agonies of death and common life.

With respect to his own better half, Bhrigu reestablished her significant other to live through his forces.

Thus, Vishnu took birth on the Earth as his famous avatars

10 avatars of Vishnu
Matsya, The Divine Fish:
Bears closeness to the tale of Noah of the Arc. As Sage Manu was playing out his everyday customs at the lake close to his seclusion, he got a fish in his grasp which mentioned him not to drop it back and to shield it from the other ocean animals. It developed in measurements from a little fish that could fit into a little vessel to a colossal size when the Sage had to give it access to the sea.

At that point, the fish uncovered itself and vowed to help him at the end of the world which before long happened. It taught the sage to gather all foodgrains, creatures and different creatures expected to repopulate the earth. At that point, the fish itself drove the ship of Manu to security.

Connection with Ketu
Vishnu embodied as Matsaya to spare Manu from an incredible flood after which Manu started another cycle of creation. Ketu is the planet of endings for a fresh start. Revering the Matsaya symbol will enable us to relinquish the past and move towards a perfect reason!

Kurma, The Divine Tortoise:
because of Rishi Durvasa’s revile, when the Gods lost their force and eternality, Lord Vishnu recommended the Gods to churn the sea of milk to get Amrita, the ambrosia of everlasting status. Having made every one of the game plans, the Gods and Rakshasas picked the Mandara as the beating bar and the Serpent Vasuki as the rope.

Anyway, at their first endeavor, Mandara lost equalization and tumbled down profound into the Ocean of Milk. At that point, Lord Vishnu accepted the type of tortoise and helped balance the mountain and effectively produced the Amrita.

Connection with Rahu
Master Vishnu as the turtle conveyed the whole universe on his back during the “Samudra Manthan”. The most misconstrued planet is Saturn. We frequently related Saturn to deferrals and obstructions.

Yet, Saturn gives the best help and quality throughout everyday life in the event that you enable it to chip away at you! There is no brave story without impediments – So Saturn is the person who makes you a saint! Adoring the Kurma symbol reinforces our Saturn!

Varaha, The Divine Boar:
As an outcome of the scourge of the children of Lord Brahma and the decision offered by Lord Vishnu. Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashyapa, they assumed control over the reins of administering and unleashed ruin. The senior sibling Hiranyaksha went to diving the earth into the Ocean of Milk. He himself concealed profound into it. Ruler Vishnu as the Boar, went into the Ocean, executed the Asura reestablished the Vedas and saved the Earth.

Connection with Rahu
Ruler Vishnu embodied as a Boar to spare mother Earth when she was taken by Hiranyaksha. Rahu, when it is working on its higher guideline, can secure and spare the universe. Rahu is likewise identified with the vitality of Goddess Durga. Loving the Varaha symbol causes us to lift our Rahu vitality and put it to right utilize.

Narasimha, The Man Lion:
My undisputed top choice manifestation of Vishnu was conceived as Narasimha the Man-lion. It’s practically precisely what it seems like. He was brought into the world half-man and half-lion toward the finish of the Satya Yuga. Narasimha challenges the laws of nature and tries to overwhelm humans because they endeavor to discover everlasting status in unnatural manners.

He explicitly appeared when a strong underhandedness Demon got annoyed with his child petitioning Vishnu and attempted to hurt him. The Demon had gotten a shelter (a desire) that he couldn’t be killed by man or creature, inside or out, day or night, on earth or the stars, with a weapon either living or lifeless. So Vishnu showed as Narasimha.

With the body of a man, and the head and hooks of a lion. He then murdered the demon utilizing his paws under a yard edge of his home at precise nightfall, while he lays on his lap. Hence finding an escape clause in the aid enabling him to ensure the little youngster.

Connection with mars
Vishnu embodied as the furious Narasimha to ensure his fan Prahlada. Narasimha vitality is that of “Divine Anger” required to conquer abhorrently. Loving Lord Narasimha changes our “Mars” vitality and implants it with nobility

Vamana, The Dwarf:
Hiranyakashyapa’s child was an exceptionally incredible fan of Lord Vishnu. His grandson Bali followed in the strides of his granddad. At the point when he was playing out a Yagya, the Gods were astounded as to their position. Accordingly, when they spoke this to Lord Vishnu, he appeared as a Dwarf. And went to the Yagya mandapa of Bali and requested land secured by His three stages. The Asura Guru, Shukracharya suspecting that something was forthcoming forewarned Bali.

Anyway not paying attention to the exhortation, Bali conceded Him the land. At that point, the Dwarf developed to enormous extents and with one foot, secured the earth, with the other foot he secured the skies and approached the lord for the third foot. The lord respectfully bowed down and offered his head for the third foot. In this way the Gods were cheerful and Bali was pushed to the netherworld. There he was made the interminable King.

Connection with Jupiter
The Dwarf may appear negating to the extensive idea of Jupiter which is additionally the biggest of the considerable number of planets. However, do you recall the story where Vamana takes three steps to quantify the whole universe? To change our Jupiter vitality it is encouraged to venerate the Vamana symbol!

Parashurama, The Ax Wielder:
Parashurama is the first logger. He got his celebrated hatchet after an atonement to Lord Shiva where he additionally got the aid of eternality. When an extraordinary lord and his military visited Parashurama’s dad at his cloister, and his dad bolstered them all with the milk of the heavenly dairy animals he previously possessed.

The ravenous ruler needed the mind-blowing creature and requested the dairy animals for himself, his dad won’t, and the malevolent lord took it by power pulverizing the ashram and Parashurama’s whole family. In vengeance, Parashurama crushed the underhanded ruler and his whole family and took a pledge to wreck each malevolent warrior on earth. After 21 ages of pulverization, he ended and proceeded on the remainder of his interminability in reflection and petition.

Connection with Venus
The planet of magnificence, connections, material solace is Venus and so on. What’s more, Venus typically alludes to Shukra – The master of the asuras. At the point when the negative powers give up to Parashurama, he changes them to the way of honorableness and God. Adoring Parashurama injects profound vitality to our venus!

Rama, The Ideal Man:
Lord Rama takes birth in the Treta Yuga in the abode of Dasharatha and Kausalya. He is the Protagonist of the Epic Ramayana and he is associated with building the Rama Setu as we probably are aware of it today. Rama was an Ideal King and an Ideal Man. He executed Ravana and Kumbhakarna, another type of Jaya and Vijaya.

Connection with sun
The word Ram stands for “Light” and it is suitably identified with the Royal Sun, the provider of light and life to maintain the whole universe. Adoring Lord Vishnu as the Ram symbol causes us to increment the sun oriented vitality in our lives.

Krishna:
Believed by numerous individuals to be a puppeteer, He was instrumental in slaughtering Kamsa and Sishupala (Often substituted for Dantavakra) the third and last types of Jaya and Vijaya. He was likewise the cousin of the Pandavas and went about as their companion, scholar, guide, and friend in need. Lord Krishna was the Peace Messenger to the Court of the King Dhritarashtra after the outcast of the Pandavas. He was the charioteer of Arjuna in the extraordinary war of Kurukshetra.

Connection with moon
No one else is practically identical to the excellence and elegance of Lord Krishna. It is intriguing to take note that Krishna was conceived in Rohini Nakshatra which falls under the moon sign Taurus – and it is the place Moon is lifted up! Going to Krishna causes us to inspire the basic Lunar vitality throughout everyday life.

Buddha, The Ascetic:
Buddha was conceived on earth in our very Kali Yuga to lecture peacefulness and message of harmony and nirvana through contemplation and edification.

If one observes the fast on Tuesday for 21 times, the unlucky influence of Tuesday (Mangal) can be removed. The legend that depicts the influence of the worship of MANGAL goes as follows, and is narrated whenever a worship or offering is made to the deity:

An old woman used to observe fast on every Tuesday and chanted Mangal Mantras to appease the Lord Mangal. Her son was named Mangaliya. Lord Mangal desired to test the piety of this old woman. He arrived at her home in the disguise of a Brahmin. He asked her “I am hungry and I shall prepare my own food but you must plaster the ground with cow-dung.” The woman then explained to him that since it was a Tuesday; she does not plaster cow-dung on that day. Instead she offered to sprinkle water so the Brahmin could prepare his food. The Brahmin insisted on only cooking on a cow-dung plastered surface. The woman refused and said that she could do anything else except cow-dung plaster. The Brahmin said, “Let your son lie upside down, I shall cook on his back.”

After some thought, the woman agreed to this bound by her Dharma and called her son. The disguised Brahmin lit the furnace on his back and cooked his food. After cooking, the Brahmin asked the woman to call her son so that he could take the auspicious food. The woman, in grief, told him to not make such cruel jokes and since after cooking on his back, he would not have survived. The Brahmin explained and insisted that she call the son. When the woman called, the son came running. The Brahmin said, “Old woman, your fast is successful. With kindness, your mind is also full of devotion and faith. May you be ever happy.” The deity (Mangal) in disguise disappeared. This story explains the benefits of Mangal worship and chanting.

Rahu Mantra: Meaning, Significance and Benefits
Planet Rahu is one of the most dreaded planets in astrology, yet it has a significant place of its own. Though usually called out for delivering bad results to the native, but in its best or benefic form, Rahu can bring an abundance of luxuries, wealth and success to the native. In astrology, Rahu is called the shadow planet, which means it doesn’t have a physical form like every other planet in astrology. Yet, despite being in a showdown form, the malefic effects of Rahu are most dreaded. However to fight these malefic effects of Rahu in the horoscope, Rahu mantras come in handy.

As per astrologers, the strong or feeble presence of Rahu in the kundli of the native is the result of his or her past karma, especially the karma of the past birth. Means, if you had done good deeds in your past life, Rahu is likely to be placed in a favour of you. Also, a positive Rahu rewards you for your past good deeds in the present birth. On the other hand, bad comes to those carrying the load of bad karma from their previous birth.

When Rahu is malefic in your horoscope and it conjuncts with other planets in kundli, it creates different types of bondages (problems). For example, Venus is considered the planet of love. Hence, in any case, if Venus is being influenced by a malefic Rahu, it can bring hiccups or problems in your love life. And sometimes, these hiccups can lead to situations like betrayal, breakups, etc., in marriage or love. Thus it is important to always keep the harmful effects of Rahu in the native’s kundli to a bare minimum. According to the Hindu belief, Rahu can not discriminate between good and evil, and so it works against the standards of righteousness (Dharma). Hence all are equal for the planet.

Rahu Mantra
Rahu with other planets
Enmity, diseases and debt are the chief qualities of Rahu. Yet, on the positive side, those under the influence of Rahu are said to be confident, brave and fearless. The positive qualities of Rahu are one of the most desired, and having a strong Rahu in the Kundli can help you with these qualities. Strengthening of Rahu in kundli can be done by chanting the Rahu mantras on a regular basis.

As Rahu has no sign of its own, the planet impacts the Lord of each house in the natives’ kundli. Rahu shows good results if the Lord it is in a relationship with is a friend to Rahu and negative results if the Lord of the house or planet it is in conjunction with is an enemy to Rahu. As per the science of Astrology, Rahu gets stronger in the 3rd, 6th, and 11th houses.

In kundli, Rahu when comes together with Venus ends up making the natives greedy. This may lead him to make wrong decisions in life. Rahu when aligns with Jupiter forms Guru Chandal Yoga. A combination of Rahu and Mars prompts the native to make wrong decisions. S/he may end up taming bad habits such as smoking, drinking, etc.

On the other hand, if Rahu is placed with an auspicious Mercury, it can lead to business growth for the native. However, if Rahu comes together with Mercury in an inauspicious position, it can be unlucky for the natives.

Rahu is also said to bring bad results if placed in the 6th, 8th or 12th house or if in conjunction with the lords of these houses. Rahu also symbolises knowledge, however, in the presence of malefic planets this attribute can have a reverse impact and it can make the native mentally weak.

Likewise, there are many more combinations in Kundli that can result in Rahu dosh in Kundli. A malefic Rahu is never good for natives as it brings hindrance in career, love life and more. However, the harmful effects of Rahu can be tackled by reciting the Rahu mantras.

Ketu Mantra: Meaning, Significance and Benefits
Ketu is usually viewed as a “shadow” planet. It is supposed to have a remarkable impact on human lives and also on the creation as a whole. In some extraordinary circumstances it helps someone achieve the pinnacle of fame. Ketu is often depicted with a gem or star on his head signifying a mysterious and cosmic light. He is as aforementioned a shadow planet or chaya grah, and behaves quite likewise. It acts in a similar fashion as the planet of Mars.

It is friendly with Mercury, Saturn and Venus. Its prime enemies are the Moon, the Sun, Mars, and it is neutral with Jupiter. Ketu is mostly associated with detachment, mindlessness, moksha and spirituality. Rahu and Ketu are half-bodied; Rahu with the upper half and Ketu with the lower half. So, individually, each of the shadow planet’s forms is incomplete, which symbolises their never-ending quest for satisfaction and fulfilment. It is supposed to represent the lack of balance that they each suffer from.

While Rahu only gives and gives, Ketu only takes. While Rahu can be incredibly attached to materials, Ketu cares for none. They both are incomplete in their own ways and are seeking fulfilment in some sense. While Ketu is a malefic planet it is also considered with taking someone on a quest to meet the highest truth and relevance. In order to rise above the materials, Ketu is known to take from the possessor’s worldly pleasures so they are able to look above it all.

Ketu is a very mysterious planet, he has an extreme influence over humans. He is the accountant of Karmic cycles and maintains the goods and the bads one has committed in their lives. If benefic Ketu can produce the best of magicians, exorcists, military commanders, militants, healers, masters of occult, spies, ascetics, hermits, writers of spiritual texts, donors, philanthropists, interpreters of the Vedic texts and mantras, architect. However if negative it can produce psychopaths, serial killers, thieves, hypocrites, animal hunters and executioners.

THE STORY OF THE NINE PLANETS OR THE NAVGRAHAS

The Story Of The Nine Planets Or The NavGrahas

We all know about the NavGrahas, their name, and their impact on our lives. NavGrahas play a pivotal role in human life, they control almost every aspect of human life. Do you know the story of each Graha? Here I will tell you about NavGrahas and their backstory one by one.

They were not born in the form of the element, they were persons who became legends and then stars or Graha in the universe for eternal.

1. Surya- The Lord of Skies

Surya (Sun) is the center of all Grahas and the source of light and energy. We can say that Surya the Sun is the lord of the skies. He is honored and worshipped by all. Surya dev is also known as Lord Suryanarayan. He is the strongest who influences many strong aspects of human life such as leadership, adventure, entrepreneurship, and strength but like our family life, his relationship with his family was also troubled.

Surya Dev is the son of the Great Sage Kashyap and Aditi who was the daughter of Prajapati Daksh.

It is said through our Vedic scriptures that the source of Surya Dev’s Heat, light, and energy is the Goddess Kushmanda who resides in the center of the Sun and created the whole Universe.

So if you worship Lord Sun you get enlightenment, positive energy, and strength.

Surya Dev’s first wife was Devi Sandhya(Sangya). Yam, Yami, and Ashvins were their children. Sandhya was a loving, caring, and devoted wife but it was becoming impossible for her to bear the heat and blinding shine of her Husband Surya Dev. But Surya Dev never cared about this too much and always got furious with his wife Sandhya as he tried to touch her. It gave immense burning and pain to her. So she decided to make her body easily bear her husband’s heat and shine. But she couldn’t leave her husband alone in agony so she created Chhaya from her Shadow who was a doppelganger to her. Then she left for the penance and Chhaya took her place. Surya Dev was happy with Chhaya because remains calm when he touches her. She easily bears the heat and shines of Surya Dev. Then Chhaya got pregnant and everything was perfect until the birth of their son. Their son Shani was born with a dark complexion and this made Surya Dev so angry and devastated that how could his son be so dark whether he was so fair, shiny, and handsome? After a time everything got resolved after Surya’s first wife returned from her penance. But His son Shani never liked or respected his father Surya. Shani disagreed with his father Surya at every step.

Once, Lord Hanuman swallows the sun and assumes that it is a sweet fruit. The whole universe sank into darkness then all Gods requested Hanuman’s parents to release the sun otherwise it would disrupt the universe and everyone’s life.

There are many stories revolving around Lord Sun and one of them is when Sage Jagdamani is distressed by the sun’s extreme summer heat and tries to bring down the sun with his arrows. Lord sun was aware of the power of the Great sage so he decided to resolve this matter. He came down to earth and talked to the Sage with a serenity that he has to fulfill his duty to rise and shine for life but he vows that when summer heat will become intolerable then he will create dark thick clouds that will bring cooling rain. And ever since we wait for the monsoon after a hot summer.

In Mahabharata, Kunti pleased Suryanarayan with a Mantra given to her by Sage Durvasa and bore a son named Karna who was one of the main characters of Mahabharata.

These are very few specialties of the Lord sun; he is more enormous than this. He gives us life. And we honor him every morning standing in the east praying to him by offering water with Mantras. He is the primary source of our liveliness.

2. Chandra Dev(Moon)- He who waxes and wanes.

Chandra Dev or the Moon, our closest neighbor who even pulls the oceans and oceans responds very dramatically and is attractive. Moon plays a very essential role in the universe, human life, and even in our literature, stories, and poems. The beauty of the moon is well-celebrated in our country by writers, poets, Shayar, etc.

Moon not only lights up our nights but has an extraordinary influence on our many parts like sentiments, beauty, love, passion, and calm.

There are various tales of the birth of the Moon in our Vedic Scriptures. Lord Moon is also known as Trujanmi(Thrice Born). First, he was created by Brahma during his other creative process but was lost in the middle of the complexities of our Vedic scriptures. Then the moon was reborn through the tears of Great Sage Attri. Sage Attri fell into the Soma and got emotional then a huge teardrop fell from his eyes and spilled over as a beaming drop of Soma which became the Moon. There he stayed for a long time under the white milky waves of the ocean. Then during Samundra Manthan Chandra Dev emerges from the ocean and this was then the third time he takes birth.

But maybe a strange birth cycle, with no parents and family made Chandra Dev emotionally isolated and unstable.

Due to Chandra Dev’s mood swings, and unstable and irresponsible behavior, he couldn’t be a good parent and this leads to a strained relationship between him and his son Budh(Mercury).

He married 27 Nakshatras, daughters of Prajapati Daksh but he loved Rohini the most; it made his other wives so unhappy and they all complained about this to their father Daksh. Daksh got very angry with Moon on seeing his daughter dissatisfied and cursed the Moon that he will lose all his beauty and glory. Then lord Moon pleased God Shiva for years and God shiva resolve that curse partially however He also couldn’t return his all beauty and glory

but he modified the curse, that the moon will start fading away for half a month but then will grow for a second half month. This made our calendar.

Chandra Dev accepted that curse with peace so he is the lord of calmness, beauty, and peace for a reason. If the Moon is well placed in your horoscope then you will be blessed with noticeable beauty, creativity, calmness, wealth, and a satisfactory love or married life with a lot of romance and love. But yes you will also be confused and emotional.

3. Mangal- Red, Hot and Angry

Mangal is Mars or the Red planet of our Solar System. Brightest among all other planets.

There are different stories about the origin of Mangal. But in both stories, the same thing is that Mangal was born with the sweat of God Shiva that fell on Earth and she created Mangal.

One is when God Shiva was fighting Andhkasur he took a rest for a while to think and then his sweat fell onto Earth and she created a warrior Mangal.

Another is when God Shiva was highly enraged by the death of his beloved wife Sati then God shiva’s sweat was absorbed by Earth and she created her son Mangal.

Manual was born out of mixed emotions like stress, anger, and modesty(from his Mother Earth).

When Earth created Mangal, Shiva ordered him to set everything on fire. When Shiva calms down, Mangal also calms down. Shiva was happy with Mangal and gave Mangal his place in the Universe. A red shining ball, Mangal.

Being Earth’s son, maybe that’s why after our mother Earth, Mangal has the probability of life on it.

Mangal affects our strong characteristics such as anger, courage, humility, and acceptance.

4. Buddh- The Maverick

Mercury, a shape-shifting metal, is liquid when flowing but solid when stable. Excellent symbol of duality. Mercury as a planet, too, shows these characteristics.

It is closest to the sun so it completes a circle around the sun so quickly but on the other hand, is so slow and lazy on its axis.

Buddh was a person who was a combination of passion, emotions, and intellectual qualities. This is because of his birth and childhood circumstances and incidents.

There are two different variations in our Vedic Scriptures about Buddh’s mother. Somewhere it is said that Rohini the chief and loving wife of Chandra is the mother of the Buddh but in the mainstream, it is believed that Buddh was the son of Chandra Dev and Tara the wife of Brihaspati. Yes! Wife of Brihaspati. The story is:

Brihaspati is the chief advisor or Guru of Devas so he used to stay very busy with work. He had no time for his wife Tara and she was feeling so money and emotional on the other hand Chandra Dev was also very lonely and emotionally unstable due to having no parents and family. Once when Brihaspati was busy with other Devas in their deeds, Chandra Dev entered his place and just got enchanted by Tara’s divine beauty. Both fell in love and eloped.

All Devas and other Lords got worried about this stressful situation between Brihaspati and Chandra Dev. To avoid any trouble they went to Tara and advised her to go back to her husband and fulfill her duties towards him. Brihaspati accepted Tara but she was pregnant at that time. Brihaspati was so bothered but he was visionary and proficient in wisdom so when Buddh was born and Brihaspati saw his charm and intelligence, he wholeheartedly accepted Buddh as his son. Chandra Dev is known for his calmness, coldness, and mood swings, he willingly consented to this.

Probably Buddh’s personality was highly influenced by his parent’s acts. Buddh was emotional and charming like his father Chandra and mother Tara but intellectual because of the teachings of his foster father Brihaspati. He had a strained relationship with his biological father Chandra Dev. Brihaspati sharpened his wit, mind, and intelligence. Buddh became one of the NavGrahas. He is a great communicator, charming and sneaky.

Mercury affects our emotions, desires, learnings, and growth.

5. Brihaspati- Guru of Devas

Brihaspati(Jupiter) or simply we call him Guru. One of Navgrahas Brihaspati associated with Fire, he is the chief counsel of Devas and the largest planet in our solar system. The wisest among all Navgrahas, Brihaspati represents knowledge, wisdom, spirituality, strength, fortune, health, and status.

Brihaspati is depicted as a sage born from the first great light and drove away the darkness, bright, pure, and one who carries a special bow whose string is the basis of Dharma.

Brihaspati was the son of Angirasa and Vyasa. Angirasa was also his son’s teacher, after getting mastery of all shastra and Vedas, Brihaspati was appointed as a chief counsel for all Devas. He became the Guru of Gods.

Brihaspati was married to Tara. Brihaspati was the chief advisor or Guru of Devas so he used to stay very busy with work. He had no time for his wife Tara and she was feeling so lonely and emotional on the other hand Chandra Dev was also very lonely and emotionally unstable due to having no parents and family.

This incident tells us about Brihaspati’s highly visionary thoughts, calmness, forbearance, and intellectual mind.

Thursday is considered to be the dedicated day for Brihaspati, praying to him on Thursday provides astrological benefits.

6. Shukracharya- Who Always believed in truth & reality:

First I will tell you about “Shukracharya”. You have usually heard about Daitya Guru Shukracharya. Yes Shukracharya is Shukra Graha The Venus.

Despite being proficient in wisdom, art, and knowledge why Shukracharya chose to be the chief mentor, counselor, and the Guru of Asuras, Daitya and chose to stay in Patala lok?

Because he always stood by the truth, reality, and justice.

Shukracharya is the son of Kavyamata and Maharishi Bhrigu who himself is the soul Son of Brahma and the master of star maps and astrology. Shukracharya was born to such an incredible sage that he has effortless access to high teachings and wisdom. His first Guru was Agnirasa but he left his Gurukul because Rishi Agnirasa was not unbiased between his son Brihaspati and Shukracharya. This was an agonizing impact on Shukracharya’s mind how could a Guru be so discriminatory?

After that, he went to Rishi Gautam and completed his education. He got proficient in the Sanjeevani Mantras which led to his tremendous renown. Sanjeevani Mantra used to give life to any person who is dead. He earned this incredible knowledge through extreme penances in honor of God Shiva. When his competitor Brihaspati became the Guru of Devas then Shukracharya decided to become the Guru of Asuras and teach them. This decision of Shukracharya has left everyone in shock because he parted His way from the mainstream. All devta were under deep stress because Shukracharya had the power of Sanjeevani.

Shukracharya was the Guru of Asuras but still, he never stopped standing for truth and justice and it mostly went in the indirect favor of the Gods. This gave him defamation but this never bothered him. He always guided Asuras and showed them the right path.

He even taught Sanjeevani Mantra to Brihaspati’s son Kach at the emotional request of his daughter Devyani. He respected his daughter’s love and feelings for Kach.

After a certain period, he moved on to another world. Shukracharya became the guiding light on the eastern horizon. Shukra(Venus) is a morning star and it jas a strong influence on special aspects of our lives such as love, emotions, sex, romance, creativity Knowledge, etc.

7. Shani Dev- Slow and Determined

This is such a wonder that Shani Dev is the son of Lord Sun, opposite to his father. Where the Sun is lustrous and bright, Shani is dark and reticent. But no doubt Shani got his short temperament from his fireball father Lord sun.

Shani Dev is one of the Ninth planets, he is Saturn the seventh planet. Shani is the son of Surya Dev & Chhaya and the younger brother of Yam, Yami, and Ashvins. Surya Dev’s first wife was Devi Sandhya(Sangya). Once she decided to make her body easily bear her husband’s heat and shine and went to penance without telling her husband, so But she created her doppelganger Chhaya from her shadow. Chhaya took her place, Surya Dev was happy with Chhaya and she was an ardent devotee of the God Shiva. Then Chhaya got pregnant but she did not take much care of herself and was deeply involved in the worship of the God Shiva. Their son Shani was born with a dark complexion just like the dark shadow complexion of his mother Chhaya and this made Surya Dev so angry and devastated that how could his son be so dark whether he was so fair, shiny, and handsome? He did not accept Shani as his son. When Shani opened his eyes, his father lord Sun went into Eclipse. After a time everything got resolved but Shani never liked or respected his father Surya and always considered him as his enemy. Shani disagreed with his father Surya at every step.

He also had a strained relationship with his sibling Yam the God of death. Yam never treated his younger brother Shani gently. So we can see that Shani’s family life was not good and satisfying, his father and siblings rejected & disrespected him just because of his dark complexion. Maybe this made him so snuffy, tough, rude, and hard to love. And Shani is the slowest planet that moves slowly around the sun because once in his childhood he hit her mother with his leg and his mother cursed him that he will be lame and slowest.

Despite all these hardships, Shani Dev pursued his goals. He was a devotee and disciple of the God Shiva. God Shiva gave him a boon to be the most powerful among all the planets including his father Surya. Shani defeated his father to avenge his and his mother’s insult.

Shani became Lord of Karma and Justice. You can not satisfy him by just pleasing offerings because Shani Dev is the only deity who acknowledges you through your inner real thoughts and Karma. You can not fool Shani Dev. He is not like his elder brother Yam-who analyzes and compensates afterlife. Shani Dev will give you the consequences of your Karma in this particular life.

So if you want blessings from Shani Dev then be careful with your Karma and actions.

8. Rahu- Shadow Planet- Snake’s Head

However, Rahu is one of the Navgrahas but we don’t consider Rahu auspicious. Rahu is referred to as the north lunar node, and along with his sibling, Ketu is a Shadow Planet that causes eclipses.

The time of day considered to be under the influence of Rahu is called Rahu Kala and this is considered inauspicious.

In our Vedic Scripture, this story is mentioned that tells us about the Churning of the Milk Ocean(Samudra Manthan) where all Gods and all demons altogether churned out the ocean for ‘The Elixir of Eternal Life’, Amrit. When Lord Vishnu in the form of Mohini was distributing Nectar, especially to all Gods then a demon Swarnbhanu saw this happening and drank that nectar by disguising himself as a God. The Sun and The Moon saw this and told Lord Vishnu who got furious and beheaded Swarnbhanu but he had already drunk that nectar so he became immortal. The head became Rahu and the body became Ketu. Since that incident, Rahu & Ketu consider the Sun & the Moon their enemies and swore revenge against the Sun & the Moon. That’s why it is believed that sometimes Rahu swallows the Sun & the Moon for some time and this is called a Solar or Lunar Eclipse.

Rahu resembles Buddh, but they are different in nature and temperament. He generally rides a black lion.

Rahu in the horoscope creates many obstacles and miseries in a person’s life.

9. Ketu – Shadow Planet- Snake’s Head

Ketu is the sibling of Rahu and the south Lunar node. According to our Vedic astrology, Ketu represents a karmic collection of both good and bad spiritual and supernatural influences. It all depends upon its position in the horoscope, as it causes sorrow and loss, and yet at the same time turns a person to God.

Ketu is supposedly responsible for Moksha, Sanyasa, and self-realization. The people who come under the positive influence of Ketu can achieve great rights, most of them spiritual.
